Saturday 3/8 PG - Woodstock or Dickeys

Post by mingram »

Keeping an eye on it. Sure would like to fly in warm, sunny weather.

There's a cold front passing Saturday night so we'll have to watch the timing of that. Winds aloft forecast looks a little strong at the moment.

If it's NW then we'll try Woodstock. The road might be closed so we may have to hike up 50 minutes. Hike and fly!

If it's more W then we'll go to Dickeys. My 2014 permit just showed up. To any new/visiting pilots who aren't familiar, Dickey's requires a special use permit $50 from the national park and P3 rating. http://chgpa.org/Waivers/waivers.html

I've been updating the forecasts every 6 hours in keen anticipation. Unfortunately the uppers look really unhelpful at the moment -- strong at 3K. I hope that improves...

And the instability/lapse/lift looks lousy too. Crossed fingers.
