And next time we get to fly is...?
Glad the site is back up!
I was starting to worry - "what if there's a good flying day and I can't hook up with people??" I presumed it'll be back up in no time like it did.
That being said, what's going on this year? I remember getting to fly pretty much all through last winter...the sledder 2 weeks ago was cool but me needs more!

Current NWS hourly is calling for NW@10-15 on Sat at High Rock(sfc), and light NW on Sun. Maybe one of those days will work out?
With *LOTS* of shovelling! *smile*
We'll see.... Could potentially be quite fun with all the snow!

Hmmmm-- the last 'cast I saw showed 15-20 for Saturday and 4-6 inches of snow on Wednesday night and another 12-15 on Thursday.
Mark, stop fighting winter and embrace it-- let's all go snowshoeing and sledding and ice skating on Saturday!!!! We can have our own winter Olympics!

It was almost 80 degrees at Elsinore Calif yesterday. I got a little sunburnt hanging out with the turkey vultures. I could have sworn the big "E" on hill overlooking Elsinore was waving at me as I circled overhead.

Damnit Dan, now it's not a good time to rub it in! Wish I was there, one day I'll probably make the move to the sunny Cali...
I don't know about hiking the backside at Woodstock - with no snow and some sort of cart (kayak wheels or something) I MIGHT give it a thought but I just have too much gear for comfort hiking up to Dickey's last year near damn killed me. This would be a longer hike (if gentler)
Still, Pulpit or High Rock? Winter snow flying is fun!

The NWS surface hourly is calling for a blow-out on Sat at the Pulpit, then light W->NW on Sunday. Maybe too light?
High Rock : NW@15+ on Sat , and the text forecast claims "gusts to 30". Sunday light SW, going light NW.
Woodstock looks pretty darn good on Sat:
MOSTLY SUNNY. A CHANCE OF SNOW SHOWERS IN THE MORNING.
HIGHS IN THE LOWER 30S. NORTHWEST WINDS 15 TO 20 MPH. CHANCE OF SNOW
40 PERCENT.
with the hourly calling 15-20 as well. Sunday: probably too light.
So at the moment, it looks like either a break-trail, deep-snow hike up the backside at WS on Saturday, or a hope-for-soarable at the Pulpit on Sunday (and surely several hours of shoveling/clearing).
Maybe Pulpit Sunday? Go up and take a look, no biggie if it doesn't work out?

Sledding! Battery Kemble Park in DC on Saturday. We'll make a ramp to get some airtime.
Call me if interested-- number is in the roster if you don't already have it.

Looks good tomorrow at HR or Pulpit...too cold? too much snow?
Felix.
Re: And next time we get to fly is...?
Too little sun.... I could psych myself up for a cold flying day and lots of shovelling.... But they're saying 90% cloud cover, which isn't exactly calling ya know?
But I dunno, with enough pilots maybe the enthusiasm level will increase! *smile*

And since we can't go flying now, how 'bout a video from our awesome Woodstock back in November?
