Just saw an old movie starring a young Glenn Ford,about Mr Mongomery,first Controlled manned flight of a heavier than air craft.Ahead of Lillenthal by about 10 years,very interesting.Never heard of him before today,lots of articles on the net.Enjoy. RichB

He made his first flight at Otay Mesa in San Diego. That's where I did some of my first HG training.

I did too. Posted about it on FB. Do a Google search on the guy who actually foot launched the Montgomery wing in the movie about Montgomery. Fascinating pilot. Good read. The movie was really cool with the foot launch scenes. Think aboug it...it was really being done for Hollywood back in the early 40's in a real honest to god hangglider aka Montgomery wing.
