Road to Daniels Launch

I took photos while I walked up to launch a couple of times yesterday. I'll post them later today. The bottom line is that the road is becoming the primary drainage for the area and there is now a stream that runs from 100 yards before the launch all the way down to the maintained gravel road. A few sections of the road are close to impassible now. With the top-to-bottom flow and a couple of good rain storms, those sections will wash out and become impassible.

A few other observations:

- There is a drainage ditch on one side of the road for most of its length. It is filled with debris and blocked in many places. Clearing it would be an easy first step.
- Even when cleared, the drainage ditch is not of much use because water bars were not installed to channel water into the ditch when the road was last repaired.

Installing several water bars coupled with clearing the drainage ditch would cut the top to bottom flow. Getting this done quickly would buy more time while the club works with the land owners to implement a more permanent solution.

Jim are you coming to the meeting on the 13th ?

I would love to see your pictures and get your thoughts on what needs to be done to this road. I am highly motivated and in agreement that it needs to be fixed ASAP.....we just have to get all the landowner/property owners that need to be okay with it, okay with it so we don't step on any toes.

I will bring the pictures on Friday. I think this needs to be a multi-step project. We first need to offer to help the landowners clear the current drainage ditch and put in a few water bars. This would cut the top to bottom flow of water. We might get quick approval if we present this as an emergency project that would avoid the road getting washed out this fall.

Matthew has tried to contact the county and his realtor, but he's not getting any responses. If anyone else has a better idea of who to contract please let me know. I'd rather pay for labor to do this work, especially as it's getting colder and the ground is freezing.

Absent that we should move forward with doing what we can to reduce further water damage.

Note that there is at least on section of the road that will need heavy equipment and some fill/gravel to get back in shape. This is probably beyond what we can do."
