Dude,

Even so, it is true. PG pilots were criticized by non-PG pilots on the forum after volunteering info about "eventful" flights, so they decamped to a friendlier environment. What you might ask yourself is why the club has to suffer from this division because you don't play nice on the forum. The forum is open to everyone, even if they aren't dues-paying CHGPA members. Unfortunately, there is a history of flame wars on the forum. The PG list is closed and refereed; guess what: no flame wars, everyone is polite and helpful. No management required. QED. I'm not the PG list manager. That manager created the list and runs it his/her way and it appears to be effective. The club president asked what we could do to entice the PGers back to the forum. My answer: manage it more tightly. I also think the "push" characteristic of an e-mail list, wherein you get late-breaking news like "everyone's headed to High Rock THIS AFTERNOON" - is better than the "pull" characteristic of the forum, wherein you only get notifications of updates on a thread that you have "subscribed" to.

Jon

There were 20 pilots on course for the Regionals task yesterday. There were about 5 land outs so there were about 15 gliders honing in on McConnelsburg at some point during the late afternoon. There is a weekend comp series most weekend from Fairfield with usually 5 to 10 contestants. Of course, McConnelsburg is not a turnpoint every weekend. Gliders from other glider ports such as Mifflin and Ridge Soaring (State College) regular make use of the Tuscarora. National comps are often held at Mifflin and you’ll see 50ish participants typically in April/May.

We sent 2 sniffers up today. I found weak wave for an extendo as did the other sniffer. Meet was called at about 2:00 pm with no possibility of convection suitable for a contest day.

You are welcome to fly with me at Fairfield in one of our 2 place gliders (as is anyone else interested in giving it a go.) Tomorrow, Sunday, is supposed to be a great wave day.

I had a nice one hour flight at Dickey's last Friday while heading down to Seneca Rocks, WV for the end of season "chili cookoff" party. The flying was great. It was one of several very nice days I've had at Dickey's. I think it is my favorite site. It sounds like Tom and company also had a good day there on Sunday while I was out climbing. I'm hoping we get a few more nice fall thermal days at Dickey's.
