I have a free weekend and would like to fly...somewhere. Preferably a new site
The weather is looking pretty bad for our local sites - question for the "tried and true" pilots out there: is there a site on the East coast that might work? I'm not opposed to driving 5-6 hours (one way, not much more than that) and stay the weekend if it's looking like a good flying weekend.
Your ideas are welcomed!
I'm not opposed to staying local if the weather changes but I'm not too optimistic about that.
There's a fly-in at Hyner this weekend which I'm going to, but as of now the forecast isn't predicting good flying (the launch faces west but is launchable from SW to NW.) It's about a five hour drive from Gaitherburg.
I'd be interested in flying Hyner, but the site being a W site and the forecast showing mostly E winds and possibly cloudy/rainy makes it a no for me...
Roanoke Mountain looks like a good maybe...
Anyone around here flew there? Is it nice? I used to do a lot of work in Roanoke and would like to go back and fly there.
Anyone else interested in going, or have a good contact I can get in touch with to discus flying possibilities this weekend?
Only info I have is from the site-guide; more information would be appreciated.
Big Walker sounds fun. I don't have any site information (our site info PDF doesn't have it listed) could you direct me to the right place?
Thanks Bacil!
Thanks again Bacil!
Unfortunately I got hit with a chest cold and so I'm down...
Looking forward to flying Big Walker sometime soon (as well as other sites I haven't flown yet).
Safe flights all.
