Ursus Minor, Bill's Hill yesterday

Post by John Anderson »

Coming back to NoVA from Colorado yesterday, at Breezewood I thought of stopping by Bill’s to see what action. Midway on the ridge to launch, a not-so-big black bear bounds across the road. Actually, it’s the third time (over a decade+) that I’ve seen a bear on the ridge. Late AM was blowing mildly south in the valley, but with straight, launchable east cycles. Too bad no pilots, no retrieval, I even had my wing. As I pulled out, a Forest Service Ranger passed by, said the New England pilots had camped there Tues or Weds, didn’t know if they had flown. My bet is that they did. --John
