Re: Sat 07 Sept : Highland
Highland was working on Sat, if a bit inconsistent. I got there early to find Q's popping all over the sky. But I was in a bit of a relax/slow/ easy mode, and that almost bit me.
On tow there were some monster thermals! But I wimped out and took the full tow, many thanks to Jim for finding some lift to drop me into, you da man!
In the air, things were majorly drying up upwind, so I hung out to the east, eventually getting to 4700' AGL near the Choptank. From there, the clouds started to disappear and I put down after an hour+. There was a thermal breaking off when I was low, but it felt pretty rowdy and I was only at 300. DaveP worked it and got back up for a while, awesome job!
Fair number of solo pilots out there: Michelle, Carlos, Peter (from CA), Dan ???, Felix, DaveP, Kirk, and probably a couple others I'm forgetting.
I took a second flight late in the the afternoon and was pleasantly surprised to find lift again, for maybe 45 minutes. Big thanks to Kirk for marking a good one when I was in need!
Lots of tandems, and also lots of students, including one crew of four that spent the night for some more flights early Sunday AM. Very fun to see lots.of motivated and excited new pilots!
Oh, and the nighttime lightup Frisbee was way fun!

PS: If Bob offers to cook burgers on the grill again, I think we might need an intervention *smile*
