Mark Forbes at the USHPA HQ posted the following request to its Regional Directors.
Dan Tomlinson
Co-Director Region 9
----------
If you have a flying site in your region which operates inside Class D airspace,
and
has some sort of check-in process with the local tower, could you let me know
where
it is and who to contact? One of our local pilots is working on opening some
ridge
soaring sites near Klamath Falls which are on the edge of controlled airspace.
The
tower manager is hesitant, and we'd like to get him in touch with other
towers/sites
where this sort of arrangement is working well.

University park airport (UNV) has an agreement with my friend where he calls before he flies and they put a notice on the ATIS. It works pretty well and seems fairly drama free.
