Pete,

Thanks for hosting it this year. I'm glad to see you got back into it. I've been flying PG almost exclusively for the last couple of years. I'll try to get several PG entries for it next year.

I must admit I was a little intimidated by all the new technology adjustments that had to be learned in order to compete this year. I liked the simple honor system format of past years.

There's still time to fly XC Dan! I found it pretty easy. Just signup online and submit your track. I can help anyone with the track download part if needed.

We had some nice flights at Highland this weekend. John Simon in particular did very well.

I learned that I should not follow immature bald eagles thinking they can find lift on their own!

While we have had some rain, I have had some nice flights this year. Keep on posting- there is plenty of time to record some nice flights!

I just added a 29 k flight from Highland on Sunday. Let's add some flights! We had a fun day on Sunday. Although my flight was only 1 1/2 hours and 29 kilometers, it was still lots of fun going XC. I would love to hear about some more flights!

Tom

PS I will try to add to Matt's write up of Big Spring. Knock on wood for some good weather.

Hi guys,
I sent in my 53 km triangle from the Highland Challenge last Sunday. A fun and challenging flight. I also got a call from JD on Tuesday and as he and Jim are old buddies, he talked him into to letting us get one tow on Tuesday.... we expected 4000' and 400 fpm with north winds we set our site on Ocean City, a nice 60 mile run. My tow was smooth once we cleared the rotor from the tree line, and I got off in a 10mph north wind at 2400'.... drifting downwind in 50 to 100fpm. JD came along later and we set off at 3500'. We did not find anything decent and 45 minutes later we bombed out just SE of Denton having scratched and scraped our way across the river. JD flew about 5 miles further than I... crushing me and winning King of the Car honors. We tried and utterly failed.... the sky looked great on the short drive home.
So I bombed out Saturday, and Tuesday... had a great flight Sunday. A good week!!

Keep grabbing miles guys... August and even more September are good for miles.
