Buffalo Ridge??

Post by darbbb »

While goofing around on Google the other day, I discovered a website for Buffalo Ridge Aerotow park, near Charlottesville. Yet, I don't know of anyone who has ever flown there, or heard any reports from anyone who has flown there. Is it still in business? Is it instruction only? Has anyone flown at this park recently? Just curious.

Interesting. The site http://buffair.com/ mentions Tobacco Row Mountain within 20 minutes of Buffalo Ridge Airsports (BRA). I thought Tobacco Row was unused and closed?

I took "trike" ("weight-shift control light sport aircraft") instruction from Ron Dixon there. It's his private airport. I presume he's still operating. The runway is short compared to what we're used to, and surrounded by trees.

Tobacco Row is still open, so far as I know. There are separate hang- and paraglider launches - also a disused launch ramp facing the other way - at least I would be worried about it collapsing... Nelson flies there, also a guy named John - they fly topless gliders and go XC a lot.
