Friday 26th - Pulpit

Post by jyoder111 »

I'm available and may be interested in Friday at the Pulpit if the forecast holds. Krzysztof, I see you posted that you're interested in Friday as well. Anyone else?

I am interested, but can only make it after 4PM. Also, I would need an observer to fly. It would be nice to have a relaxing evening flight after the last few floggings. :)

Sorry Jesse, that's the best I can do.

Tomorrow is looking pretty good! Nice temp spread and steady NW winds. I'm interested but don't want to fly alone. Please post or call in the AM if you're up for it. I'm thinking ETA 11-noon or so.

Jeff, I'm seeing N at Hagerstown, but everywhere else is NW (McConnellsburg, Fort Ritchie, Breezewood, Harrisburg). Not sure what to make of it, but I'm up for giving it a shot. ETA noon unless I hear otherwise from Krzysztof.

Hmm. Maybe you're right. The 9am forecasts are all looking pretty north and the 8 and 9am readings have been due N. I'm wavering. Gonna see if I can get ahold of Krzysztof.

Cross me off the list. My Saturn Vue's engine blew up yesterday on my way to work. Now I have to decide if I should get a new vehicle or put another motor in. Remind me how much fun hang driving is.

Tom, Jeff, and I all flew to Hagerstown or a little past it. Launching was super easy at noon, but we all struggled to get up and over. Mostly blue day due to the inversion. I caught a boomer thermal 5+ m/s that got me to 6300 ft. msl. Jeff's dad picked us up. My first cross-state flight!

North cross and light. Krzysztof and I took sleds. I managed to get my sport 2 down into the secondary. Pete and Pat chose the better cycles and sky-godded out. They left a car in the lz with a radio on and I could hear them bragging about xc contest points so y'all better watch out.

Actually, Pat and I didn't really go anywhere. After 1:45 and 2:30 we landed back in the valley after very fun flights getting to 6,400 msl. Winds were weirdly flukey, changing dramatically as the afternoon wore on. In the Hagerstown valley it was southeast, allowing me to get back to the ridge from ten miles over the back.
Thanks to Krzysztof for helping get my car to the lz, and thanks to Alex for launching us.
Pete
