Dear All -- The USFS Lee District Office has invited any interested person from CHGPA to a Volunteer's Orientation Event on Saturday April 6th at 1:00pm.
Location: Elizabeth's Furnace Recreation Facility Strasburg Virginia
Contact: Ranger Katie Donahue from the Lee Ranger District
Please consider attending. It would be a show of good faith in our joint efforts to renovate Edith's Gap and the Woodstock Flying Sites.
Directions:
From I-81: Take exit 296 and turn east, on VA 55 for 1.4 miles. In center of Strasburg (traffic light), turn left to remain on VA 55. After 5.0 miles, turn right onto SR 678 in small community of Waterlick. The recreation area will be on your left in about 3.5 miles. There are three entrances, about a half mile apart: Entrance to the group campground appears first, followed by the entrance to the day use area, and finally the entrance to the campground.
From I-66: Take Exit 6 (Front Royal) and proceed south on SR 340/522 for 1.3 miles until you come to a stoplight. Turn right onto VA 55 West for 5 miles to the small community of Waterlick. Turn left onto SR 678 and go approximately 6 miles. Elizabeth Furnace Family Campground will be on your left.
Thank you.

To all interested parties,
I'd sent an email to the kdonahue@fs.fed.us this am, asking for some basic info - will there be an open bar, band, dress code etc. - and got back an attachment that my Mac won't open.
Called the office just now and was informed that "Hey, it's friday afternoon! This place is a ghost town. Duh."
Seriously though, the person who answered the phone was a very pleasant woman and was able to read to me from a mailing that went out to 'volunteer cooperators' that the agenda would cover such things as volunteer agreements, district updates, new projects, draft forest plans, awards etc., etc.
Seems like a non-starter… from the start…unless you were already one of the 'starters'... not for us hoi palloi.

I do, however, request that my Intention-to-Attend be credited to my account.

Re: USFS Volunteer Mtg. April 6th @ 1:00pm
just came back to check my spelling and decided that it wouldn't have been amiss to have added one of these, , after "polloi".
except, all my emoticons don't seem to be operational. - is supposed to be 'wink'.
that was way more complicated than it could've been… 'guess I could have just said what I meant to say and meant what I said I meant to say… something like that.

How'd the meeting go? I took a ride out on my motorcycle, but I couldn't find the exact location. I saw the placard at the day-use area, but I didn't see any obvious meetings starting up. It was a good day for a ride, anyway.
