Hi, I probably posted this in the wrong sub-forum to begin with. I hope I can get some response here. Thanks
Hello everyone,
I'm a new paragliding pilot (since 4 july last year). I'm looking for a good place for kiting. If there was the chance of practicing reverse launches (without actually getting airborne) that would be great too. So perhaps near the bottom of a training hill somewhere would be great. I live in Annapolis. You would think with all the water around it would be easy to find some very laminar air but apparently I'm not looking in the right places. I don't mind ridding my motorcycle a few hours to get a good session in. It's the only thing standing between me and a P2.
P.S. I'm joining the group as soon as I can but the internet sign up isn't working.
Thanks
George
Good Kitting locations?

Re: Good Kitting locations?
Hi George. I'm in DC and we have issues finding kiting locations here too. The DC Kite fest is this Saturday on the National Mall - the one day a year we're allowed to kite on the mall. We've also used Hains Point, but some people have been told not to kite there. There is a lot of farmland east of the bay. You might be able to ask around.

Ok... I make a wicked Key Lime Pie. It's a recipe that's been in the family for generations. I'll bring one or doughnuts or beer... your choice. I really need to get some ground handling in and at least hang out with other flyers. I know how to get out of the way in a landing zone if pilots are coming in to land.
I'm a club member now according to Carlos and will have my sticker within a couple of weeks.
Throw me a bone, I'm really a good guy who's just trying to get started.

Ooops, looks like our posts crossed paths, thanks for the response Matt. I have my eye on a couple spots either side of the Bay Bridge. I'll report back. Unfortunately I'll be out of town Saturday or I'd go and at least grip and grin with anyone who went kiting on the Mall.
Thanks again,
George
Thanks again,

Re: Good Kitting locations?
The bunny hills didn't look good for wind direction today but I got an excellent afternoon of kiting in at Sandy Point State Park. The park was almost empty and if the wind wasn't laminar it was adequate. It was just what the doctor ordered.
