Weekend Flying Prospects

Post by XCanytime »

Looks like a fast moving typical spring pattern setting up. Rain Friday, west on Saturday, SW to SSW on Sunday. I'm looking at the Pulpit again after work Sat. The 3rd time is the charm  . Sunday is looking like a nice day at Daniels. Mid 60's and wind speed in the double digits. May be good to try to land at the Early Mt. Winery. Bacil

Can anyone please tell me who the contacts are for Daniels and how to get permission to fly there? I have the CHGPA site guide which mentions a donation to the CVHGA, waiver and contact names (but I don't see contact numbers or e-mail). Since the site guide is a bit dated I am wondering if there is more current information. I am also wondering how HG pilots handle the 4-wheel drive portion of the road if they don't have a 4-wheel vehicle (Shall I assume that you meet in the LZ and load into one vehicle?). Thx Much for any assistance! ..::Jim G.

CVHGA does not exist anymore. I think, however, Nelson Lewis takes donations occasionally to give to the landowner to help cover expenses.

No special waivers are needed to fly Daniels.

You need to be an H3 or P3. H2s and P2s may fly Daniel's under supervison of an Observer, but the Observer must be a pilot who has flown Daniel's.

Re - vehicles, yes, if you don't have 4WD or a car with lots of ground clearance, you need to arrange to meet up with someone who has a 4WD vehicle in the LZ.

Thank you Matthew for the details. Daniels is only 30 miles north from where I am staying until the end of April so it is good to know this information. ..::Jim G.

Well Saturday's prediction went to crap but Sunday is looking stellar at Daniels. I should be there by 11A, meeting up with Jon. An XC to the winery is the goal. Bacil
