Looking forward to it. Forecast as of now looks somewhat promising for flying as well. What time are you thinking of getting there Matt?

I actually have the day off tomorrow, but don't currently have a rack set up for the vehicle I am currently driving, Damn. Hope you guys get some good flights.

I am more than likely heading to Daniels today. I should be down there in time for an afternoon flight.

Well, did you guys get to fly?
Any snakes under the carpets?
Sure was a nice day.

Re: Daniels Monday 2/18
Daniels was fun. Beautiful day to be outside. Got there around 1pm to see a PG soaring (lazlo?) Found Tom and Pete in the main LZ, and we all bounced up the road to launch. Found SteveK up there and anther PG pilot (Peter?). Cycles were light but somewhat plentiful......forecast was calling for it to get better (never did). SteveK braved the first HG launch (sometime around 3pm?) but there wasn't much to be found. Tom was next and waited in the slot for a while until he found something he liked. He launched and went in scratch mode finding some buoyant air that kept him alive long enough to find something better to get up in. Pretty cool to watch, him patiently work his way up in what was tricky light stuff, down low at least. Pete was next and hung out in the slot for a while waiting for something good to come. Still a bunch of light switchy cycles coming through. It was already after 4pm...maybe around 420pm and I was getting antsy to launch so I asked Pete if I could go ahead and move in front to launch. He kindly obliged and I was now in the slot facing the light and switchy stuff. Picked something halfway decent and I was off with a solid launch and right into scratch mode. Found a few light things (kinda like the other week) that I tried to use to pinch back into the mountain, having a little success on some but not quite getting in the meat of anthing that I could get some real net gains in. I really started to appreciate Toms patience at this point. For a couple of minutes I thought it was going to happen, that "this" was the "one" that was going to get me above into the sweeter stuff but it never happened. Still the best 8 minutes and 53 seconds I spent all day Landed on the spine as the flow in the valley was mostly south. Had a good approach but poor flair timing and ended up just plopping down at the end with no energy. Not even enough energy for grass stains on the pants or harness Oh well, maybe it was the best 8 minutes and 52 seconds I spent all day Pete ending up launching well after me and was able to get above and have a soaring flight for a bit....nice job man!
Matt Ingram and Peter? were back up top busting their humps with the carpets and loading them into Ellis's truck. We all helped a little with rolling and taping the carpets but those two guys did the most of it....you guys rock!!!
Tom and I hiked back up top and loaded my Subaru with as much carpet as it would take....believe it or not, that car can hold some carpet. First thing on the agenda this morning is heading to the dump so I don't have any new flora and fauna in the car. There is still some more carpet up there and it may take another trip or two of people taking it out.
Good stuff,
Jon

Thanks Jon and for the guys who removed and rolled up the carpets.
"Tom was next and waited in the slot for a while", "Pete was next and hung out in the slot for a while waiting" What Jon should have wrote.
Both Tom and Pete were slow growing potatoes.
