Canaan Valley

Post by wmelo »

I am planning to spend a few days in Canaan Valley, WV.
I would like to take the opportunity and fly in WV.
Any recommendation?
Is there any good WV site that does not require an observer?
Regarding H2+Observer sites, any recommendations? What would be the best way to contact WV observers?

Hints will be greatly appreciated.

JR (Jim Rowan, theflyingdude@yahoo.com) is a high-airtime observer and the point of contact for the sites in that neck of the woods. I'm fairly sure they all require an observer and a signed waiver. Waivers are available on the Mountaineer Club website http://www.mountaineerflyers.org. JR is also kind enough to maintain a CHGPA membership, you can get his phone numbers from the roster in the member's only section of the CHPGA.org site. My own experience was that it was better to reach out to observers over the phone rather than via e-mail, until we knew each other well.

Have fun.
