Pulpit Weekend 1/5 - 1/6

Post by XCanytime »

Today we prepped the pad for Charley's and Mark's launches. With no precip forecasted for the next 5 days, the pad should be quite ready for some flying next weekend. The ramps should be clear of the small amount of ice that was present today as well. Should be good if the west flow holds for both days. Bacil

I'm in for this week-end if the weather holds.
I had to work and didn't come out on the 1'st - glad you guys kick-started 2013 flying!

I am very frustrated I could not make Jan 1st :( Instead of flying, I stayed the whole day on the ground patching ice on my shoulders :(
I am however looking forward to going this weekend if the weather allows.

Cheers

I am thinking about heading to the Pulpit Saturday morning. To me, it looks like it will go SW in the mid-afternoon and stay that way through Sunday. Bacil - what are you seeing?

Based on the current forecast, I would head out early Saturday.

Last time I checked I also got the same forecast...W until 3:00pm then turning SW after 3:00pm at the Pulpit.
Just for curiosity: What about High Rock? It seems more NW then W, however stronger and colder :(

According to the hourly forecast for HGR at TWC it will lighten up and go WSW after 3P on Saturday. Aaarghhh. I have to work in the AM when it's gonna be quite good direction and speedwise. As far as Sunday is concerned TWC says W at 6 MPH for HGR. The hourly does have it going SW Saturday evening. The hourly forecast is only 48 hours out so Sunday's hour by hour will be filled in by tomorrow evening. Will check that tomorrow night to see what Sunday is looking like. Looks like the best bet so far is early Saturday like Tom said. The early birds should get the worm. Bacil

Yey High Rock!
Hope there will be have several High Rock experienced pilots coming out in the AM tomorrow, it would be a first there for me and I'll definitely need all the pointers and hands on I can get. I plan on coming out early to study the LZ and Launch.

I will rely on the observer...I hope that both places are suitable to me...I have not flown yet in either site...:) I can be earlier Saturday in either one.

I'd consider coming out as launch/shuttle help at HR if that would be useful - 'love to hang out with crazies.

...

ahh,

slight delay.

seem to be having a hard time punching "submit".

let me try again.

Anyone who has not yet flown High Rock needs to go down to the LZ and stop at Emma Jane's house (the LZ owner) and fill out a waiver. Also, you need to have your Cliff Launch sign off, preferably your Assisted Windy Cliff Launch sign off to fly High Rock. If not, then you still need an Observer.

I'll be happy to go by Emma's house and sign the waiver. Do I need to contact her in advance of going or just show up there when checking out the LZ?
I do not have a CL sign-off, can someone please observe (guide) me tomorrow? How do I get the CL sign-off?

----

By doing a bunch of cliff launches well that are witnessed by an Observer.

I'll be there tomorrow.

High Rock tomorrow

Post by Dan T »

Oh man I've probably got 50 hours airtime in the last twelve months and a grand total of them are zero in a hang glider. I'm almost ashamed to call myself biwingal.

High Rock looks like awesome tomorrow. Somebody twist my arm please.

Dan, hope you'll get well soon! I am getting over a nasty cold myself, sure sucks being sick.

On the other hand, does anyone want to set up a time to meet at the LZ and drop a car off? I'll have to go there anyway to walk the LZ as well as go in at the LZ owner's and sign a waiver.
My phone # 202-640-0719 (text or call).
Looking forward to tomorrow!
Felix.
