Woodstock/Pulpit Tuesday 12/11

Post by silverwings »

I am planning on going to one of those sites and getting Walt his first mountain flight. Forecast looks little light for Woodstock and a little strong for the Pulpit as of this morning's readings. Any other pilots interested or comments on the forecast.

I'd say take him to Woodstock. NW at 10 MPH. Perfect. Bacil

Woodstock does look light, but gust factor at Pulpit is pretty high in the PM according to NOAA. Maybe try to get a couple flights at Woodstock?? I'm busy tomorrow, or I'd come :D

Woodstock turned out to be ideal with winds fairly straight in 5 - 10 mph (mostly) occasionally less and a little more. Valerie started off launch and immediately got above as did everyone. Jono (pg) then went off followed by Knut (first mountain flight for 10 years). Then Walt did his first mountain flight with a good launch. Next was Lazlo (pg) and Josh (pg). After Walt had flown close to 1/2 hours, I had him head out for landing which he did fine. Lastly, I launched (hg) and flew for 1:10. Everyone was flying between 800 - 2000 above if quite smooth lift with some thermal activity. Congratulations to both Walt and Knut. Walt, Knut, and I went to dinner for a celebration of a great day of flying.

John, you truly deserve the award from the USHPA. I enjoy reading how you continue to churn out pilots old and new. Nice job!!!
