Saturday paragliders @ Skyline

Post by AcTiOnJaCkSoN »

I had a couple friends who made a trip from NOVA and spent the day enjoying the scenery at skyline Virginia. Apart of the scenery they told me they saw 4-5 paraglider pilots flying around, wish I could of seen it. Must of been a great day to fly the weather was gorgeous. I was just curious if they were any pilots from this group? Any hang glider pilots fly from dickeys ridge much anymore?

All of the pilots at Skyline Drive (Dickeys Ridge) were from the local area. Some of them got over two hours in the air. I got about 30 minutes and cut the flight short because I was concerned that it might get too strong for PG. It never did.

There were no hang glider pilots but conditions in the early afternoon would have been suitable and soarable for them as well.

Joe Shad flies his HG at Dickeys and has been calling for others to join. I'm surprised more don't because it's such a beautiful site, but I realize it's a hike.

I sent my park permit application in two weeks ago so I will be joining Joe and the PG pilots that fly the park in 2013! I am also hoping to explore the other two sites as well..Millers Head and Hogback.

AW very cool, sounds like a great day of flying good to know people are still flying there at skyline. I met someone at bluesky that flys dickeys ridge but forget his name, but have never seen anyone flying there including pgs yet. It is a beautiful place, I would love to fly there one day. Hogback would a awesome, such a view and launch site looks very exciting lol. I will have to keep my eyes open for pg/hg pilots cause I'm around there on occasion.

Sorry to ask, but where is the Skyline launch?
Is that the Linden VOR?

It's not available to non-members. Thanks for the help however.
