Taylor Farm today Friday & Sunday

Post by silverwings »

A super day flying/teaching at Taylor Farm. Temps just right and winds SSW ranging from 2 at the end of the day to 10 max (on top of the hill) but mostly 5 - 8 mph. Students Knut, Walt, and Trevor all working on turns and spots and doing great and Trevor set a record of 23 flights from the top of the hill! I also did 8 or 9 flights. Knut, who was a foreign pilot and has been out of the sport for a few years passed his H2. The others are also getting close. Sunday's forecast looks pretty good and I will be there with a few other students.

Hey John

Is the hill steep enough to launch a litespeed? I may try Dickey Ridge but a training hill day sounds interesting.

Gonna give Woodstock a look see at the end of the day. We will be out that way anyway. Ellis wants us to come out to Front Royal to check out her cute, little "dacha". I sure hope she's talking about her new weekend vacation house!

Plus, Brian VH will be out there with some pilots from Ellenville who are planning to beat the wind and launch early before it gets too gusty. Yes-- It's much better to be in the air or trying to land when it's gusting to 35mph. Ugh!

I had a nice day at Taylor Farm today. First day back there since my Hang II. I had nine flights from the top of the hill with my Litespeed. I had plenty of room to land but had to angle to the right to avoid the pond and fence. I could use another practice day and hope to hit Smithsburg sometime this winter.

John has a good group of students who seemed to be having a good day. Bob (not sure of his last name) and Hang II also was out and had four nice flights. Thanks for all your help today John.
