Dickey's and Woodstock

Post by Joe Schad »

Looks like a slight chance for Dickey's Saturday and Woodstock Sunday. Monday and/or Tuesday could also be Dickey's. Any interest?

The current forecast still favors Woodstock on Sunday.

I need to fly Dickey Ridge! Maybe I could get out of work early one day - we will see.

Tom,
I'm going to head to woodstock tomorrow. You up for a ridge run?

I'll decide in the morning. A ridge run would be great but I don't have a driver yet.

Well Saturday at Dickey's was good. I got there early and launched at 12:30 for an hour and a half flight. It was a bit cloudy but sunny at launch with a big blue hole out in front that stayed for the entire time I was airborne. Clouds thinned out and lost some vertical development but later came back with a broken layer over launch. It was up and down all day. Up to 1500 over then immediately down to launch and back again. After a save as I headed to the Lz I managed to get to 2900 over and tried to go cross country. Winds above about 800 over were decidedly north so progress was slow without much lift. I landed behind the Skyline High School and hiked to the park. Tom Cumen picked me up about a mile into the park and got me back to my car. Thanks Tom. Great day for me. Heading to Woodstock Sunday. Life is good for us geezers.

Joe

P.S. Lots of folks in the park for the fall colors. Took half an hour for me to get into the park this morning. Traffic was still backed up at 4pm this afternoon.

If a few of us go the probability that someone makes it back is high, so we could potential do with out a driver however if you can find one that's a home run.

Great first mountain flight as an H3!
Woodstock rocked today - got to enjoy the fantastic views with all the cool birds for 3 hours and 25 minutes. Had to come down due to sunset (I'm not going to break down in the dark again, that's no fun).
This sport rocks!
Felix.
