Saturday looks cross from W but possible. Sunday looks pretty strong NW. What's the updated Bacil cast?

I will be there after 2P on Sat. after working in the AM and plan to return early Sunday morning to be ready when the ridge soaring switch is thrown. Saturday looks WSW on the surface (247.5) but I'm betting on it being 270 at launch (faces around 280). Sunday surface looks WNW (292.5). Couldn't be much better. Bacil

Looks like WSW for Saturday-- 260 degrees. As it has been crossing from the North this year every time the forecast was for West-- maybe it will be straight in for a change.

Sunday is now looking stronger with gusts to 25.

Planning on getting to Pulpit around noon on Saturday with both wings.

I read something earlier this week about a Thurmont TFR for Oct. 19-22nd so High Rock Sunday might not be possible.

If Matthew is saying it's gonna be too strong Sunday, then that means it's gonna be perfect! Am I right??

Might plan to camp out in the cold and have a go at both days. ETA tomorrow afternoon sometime.

Yes! TFR up through Monday. HR is out. Downwind from Pulpit should be planned carefully.

Might change as WE develops so check flight service to confirm.

P40 is restricted air space and extends just behind High Rock. When the President or other officials are at Camp David, P40 may be expanded and encompass High Rock and that is why we can't fly there when it is expanded. Before flying High Rock, at least one of the expected hang gliding pilots should call flight service to check the status of P40 to see if it is expanded.

Hmmm--- forecast has flipped with it building and gusty today and W 10-15 Sunday. Also cloudy today and sunny tomorrow.

Thinking of flying Sunday instead of Saturday now.

Still looks like it could be nice this afternoon. Earlier this month, Bacil called similar days two weeks in a row and only he showed up to find nice conditions. If he's still saying it's gonna be good, I'm thinking I'll head up this afternoon. ETA 2pm.

I think I'm going to bail today because I can only fly one day this weekend... Will hope that the NW has enough oomph to make Woodstock possible tomorrow. The 3k forecast has been bumped up since I last looked, so I'm cautiously optimistic.

I'm in for flying tomorrow either Pulpit or woodstock. Though never flow woodstock so I'd be up for giving that a try.

Anyone up for a 30-50mile ridge run at woodstock sunday? If forecast holds it should be easy.

Day 1 of the Pulpit weekend turned out nice. I didn't get there until 3:30P. Jesse, Andy, Charley, and Mark (visiting from Cali) soared to their hearts content in light to moderate conditions. Steve K(richten) had a harness issue that dealt him a quick trip to the main. I DNF. Returning early tomorrow for the better stuff. Bacil

The forecasts for Woodstock have been backed off a bit, so I'm now eyeing The Pulpit once again. Had hoped for WS because of the chance to enjoy some fall color from the air. Well.... Will see how things are looking tomorrow AM!

Yep. Weird day. Bay forecast was calling for 20 knots and a small craft advisory. Went sailing expecting a rip-roaring ride. Found light winds to no winds to winds switching 180 degrees-- never anything more than 10 knots. We were zipping along at 5 knots towards the bay bridge at one point and everything went null. We came to a complete stop in the middle of the bay. After floundering around for a while, the boat weather cocked and we started going in the opposite direction without ever changing the sails.

Wow, sure looks good at The Pulpit for tomorrow (Sunday). I was definitely hoping for Woodstock tomorrow, I've never been there yet but know it's gorgeous.
Will make a decision in the AM, hope some of you guys will post your ideas on best place to pick.
Looking forward to a great flight tomorrow, hopefully...:-)
Ridgely was fun today though a bit too windy for soaring.
Felix.
