CG1000 harness

Post by Kurt Kemerer »

Thinking about a new harness, the high energy tracer works great but I have had it for 12 or more years can't really remember so maybe it's time for a new one. I'm thinking about the CG1000 has anybody had one of these and if so did you like it?

Davis used to fly with one. I think he liked it.

There are two pilots at Blue Sky that are flying them, one since last summer and one for a couple months. They both really like them. Steve has one at Blue Sky you could look at. If you want to send me your email, I could pass it along and they can tell you directly what their experience with the CG1000 has been. Jon Brantley has been looking at them and recently hung in one I believe. You should contact him and see what he thought about it. I know Steve Wendt really likes the function, quality and price.

I've owned two CG1000 harnesses and got my first one in 1986. I still have my second one, but it has been relegated to back-up status since I upgraded to a Rotor Vulto harness. They were designed and made by Jay Giaoforte (sp?) and I believe the current version is being produced by his daughter. I really liked both of my CG1000's and I've heard the new ones are still well-made, but that's just thru the grapevine as I haven't seen one and don't know anyone who has one of the recent iterations. If you've not flown in a single-point attachment harness, they do take a little getting used to as you can't get quite as upright as you would in Tracer or a Z5 harness, but once you get used to that, they're really no harder to land.
