Update as of 9/6/12:
Most of the crud is gone. There is still a snow fence at the area where the drop-off goes into the lower parking lot ( near stage ) but that is easily lifted and laid down. Park should be removing that shortly as well. But all the major stuff is now gone. And as far as I'm aware there are no events planned out there but its always a good idea to call ahead.
Remember the basic rules:
H-1 site unless under the direct supervision of an Instructor
Helmets must be worn
Don't fly in strong winds. <10 at the top. Otherwise....expect to get rotored and thrashed.
Be able to present your USHPA membership card if asked.
Double surface wing pilots should think twice about flying there unless the pilot is pretty comfy on the wing and the site.
Walk the LZ to become familiar with its limitations and options.
Use numerous streamers and windocks up and down the slope and LZ.
Be the Hang Gliding embassador when flying there. You may encounter numerous wuffos.
September historically can be a good NE wind time. Oregon Ridge is a great place to prep for mountain flying and setting up landing approaches. Launches from the top in good conditions will usually require linked "S" turns to enter into the LZ.
Enjoy the site as the fall foilage changes and the days are still warm. Flyable all winter and spring unless there is sledding activity going on.
