Since my dad will be in town I'll be there, and will have him there as well.

Wish I could be there, but I have a previously scheduled meeting that night. Darn. Y'all have fun, and don't get too rowdy in the hot tub. (A perfect place to sit in 90+ degree weather!)

Hoping to be there on Friday too!
Re: Aug 10: CHGPA Summer Soiree/Meeting
You may want to add a duplicate post to the 'events and meeting' forum. Right now there's a summer soiree listed for a different week in August, and unless you pay close attention you won't realize it's a year old.

Welcome back, Chris! Was worried you'd dropped off of the face of the earth or something. See you there.

I'm back in the area and will try my best to attend, too!
Re: Aug 10: CHGPA Summer Soiree/Meeting
Who's that Brian guy? Did he use to be a pilot? I guess Jodie and will find out when we show up for the meeting.

Karen and I are parking our cars across the street in the neighbor's driveway. So there are two spots to park in our driveway for those who arrive first. Also, the grass driveway across from our driveway is open (next to the green house) for anyone who wants to snag it.

Re: Aug 10: CHGPA Summer Soiree/Meeting
Thanks. Cool idea, I'll look when I get a few moments. Not as much fun as actually attending though

The meeting was a lot of fun with a few new faces. I took some brief notes on my iPhone.

Woodstock launch
Matt Ingram volunteered to mitigate eye-sore temporarily and get status on full resolution with USFS proposal to smooth launch with gravel.
Painters tarps were requested since they're easier to layout and rollup
Runway should be clear of carpet at all times
Locate club weed whacker. The CHGPA thread says it's at Matthew and Karen's, but they only have the saw attachment.
Pulpit fly-in
Trees below launch may need to be trimmed next year
Looking for a volunteer for coordinating/promoting this event to increase attendance
Bacil was nominated in absence
High Rock fly-in
Matthew will give Emma Jane a heads up
Matthew suggested contacting PG scooter tow operators regarding towing out of Eddie's field
High Rock PG launch
Need a volunteer to contact MD DNR (Dept. of Natural Resources)
Promote tourism in MD!
Pulpit Road
Needs more stone to finish road
Less than $500
Board approval sufficient
Jeff proposed an informal weekend XC Club the weekend of August 18th where ever looks most flyable.
Camp and fly both days if possible. He has a waypoint file to share beforehand and can help program GPS.
Brian V H suggested club flying trips
Ellenville, NY - 6 hours
Blue mountain ski resort is near Allentown, PA - 4 hours
The Highland Challenge and the ECC were great local HG comps this summer that our members participated in. We want to promote this harder next year to ensure this great resource stays in place. Low attendance almost caused the ECC to be cancelled.
Club event hosting - there's a place called Teds 355 diner on Rockville pike that can seat 100 people with a projection screen. Might be a good place for explaining XC waypoints.
Jeff suggested we as a group focus on HG and PG commonalities, instead of what's different about the two. We all share a love of free flight and are proud to stand together.
We'd like to plan for another repack clinic over the winter/early spring.
Also a rope course.
I will contact Peter Humes and see what we can plan.
