High Rock? Mon Aug 6

Post by markc »

I know that the forecast looks fairly light at the moment (NW@10, then decreasing by the late afternoon), but I wanted to get the possibility of a High Rock day on Monday on people's radar..... If that cold front has just a bit of ooomph behind it, and there's some good sun, then it might be worth a run up to High Rock for an afternoon flight. With an early start to the day, and heading out by 1pm, you might burn only 3 or 4 hrs of vacation time. And sunset is still after 8pm.

Just sayin'.... Keep it in mind!!!!

Apologies for not posting this AM (was a bit under-the-gun after watching the Curiosity landing!) And Chris, sorry not to have returned your call.

Prospects were poor yesterday, and even poorer this AM, with very light NW winds. No unexpected oomph behind the front, sigh. :-( With no more than 5mph wind-barbs in the late afternoon on the NWS hourly forecast map, it didn't seem worth taking a 1/2-day off. But let's keep an eye out for other opportunities!
