Day one of Fly Week Colorado. Many PGs and HGs flew early and sank out. For a short window ( I missed it) some gliders got up. Mark Gardner beamed up to 17,999 and headed north, landing about 25 miles north in the Arkansas valley north of Salida. That's higher and farther than I or the other locals have been.
Another pilot flew south to Blanca, about 60 miles, and another I heard had made it to New Mexico. Mike

Ben and LE Herrick were also there and flew in the first wave.
The day was marred by a blown launch around noon. The pilot was stretchered out but found to have no serious injuries and was at the party later. The glider was badly damaged with the keel broken in 2 places.
