I think rational people consider a forecast of 106 to be inclement weather and not flyable. But sure. Talk in the morning. 202 812 8305

I'd go if anyone else is..I could be at woodstock or the pulpit by 2:00PM.

I'm an H3 who just moved to gaithersburg from up north (the hyner club) and would like to start flying down here.

I could go either way... Woodstock or the Pulpit. Would be fun to go support Andrew on his first mountain flight at the Pulpit, though!

Hmm. Pulpit forecast has increased a few mph. Might be a bit strong in the middle of the day (max 14 surface), but doable. Woodstock looks ok, but could be a little light (max 10 surface). Difference between temp and dew point is much higher at Woodstock, as temps will be higher.

What are people thinking?

I'd prefer the Pulpit because it's a little closer for me and it would be fun to help the H2.

I would love to join you guys in the mountains, but I have my 6 year old son tomorrow while mom is picking up my daughter from camp, so I will be ground bound. Have a good one!

Pulpit was pleasant and 4 pilots flew including Jon, Jesse, Adam, and first mountain flight Andrew Dimiceli. Jesse started off using the right ramp easily getting above and flew for about an hour on his first flight. Andrew launched a little after 3:00 pm from the right ramp and with a little radio guidance got above a flew for approx 41 minutes before choosing to head out and land in the primary. Had a great flight and good landing. Jon launched using the pad a little after Andrew and Adam also launched a little later on the pad. Wind speed a launch varied from 7 to 15 mph. Jesse went for a second flight and was flying when we left. No one got much over 1000 above and I think Andrew might have gotten 800 above at one time. Please welcome Andrew Dimiceli to the mountain flying club! A special day for him to do his first mountain flight with soaring plus get accepted by the University of Marland in the law program right after we arrived at the Pulpit!

A little sun and heat ain't gonna keep us down! Fun day at the Pulpit. Big congrats to Andrew on his first mountain flight. Great launch in pretty challenging conditions for a new pilot. Nice work finding lift and working it!

Very hot and hazy day. Breaking down in the wind shadow of the trees in the primary was stuffy. Kind of funny air up top at times, switching from north cross to south cross at different times and altitudes. Some decent thermals but they all seemed to disappear about 1000 over.

First flight I flared late and flopped forward on the wheels. I had to redeem myself so I took another flight while Jon B and Andy B were breaking down. I had to self-launch but the air in the pad had calmed down quite a bit at 5pm. I flew without a camera for the first time in a year or so and it was rather nice just boating around without worrying about extra equipment. Not the prettiest day due to the haze, but pleasant flying.

Fun day at the Pulpit. HOT and HAZY with some punchy thermals that couldn't seem to get us above 800-1000' over.....inversion maybe?? I was way overdressed and got pretty warm in the active air!! Unless you were willing to fly naked, you were gonna be overdressed

Big congrats to Andrew on you first mountain flight!!! Don't worry about feeling some air sickness, that air was a little punchy and there is a lot of much smoother stuff you can choose to fly in for a while. Hope to see you back out on the mountain soon!!! Congrats also on the LAW school....whata day for you man!!
