Highland Report Sat06Aug

Post by markc »

Watched the satellite maps until about 11:00 Sat morning,
trying to figure out if things would be ok at High Rock
or Highland. Decided on the later after seeing pretty consistent
NE at the AWS sites, and a clear patch of skies heading towards
the Shore....

So left late, major beach traffic jams; didn't arrive at Highland
until about 1:45pm. Steve K, Joe G, Carlos, Paul A, and a couple
other pilots I don't know were already set up when I got there.

Plenty of sun, decent looking clouds... so I set up in a hurry and
was the second or third pilot off. Had a nice 50 minute flight
up to around 2600, in very light lift. On the ground, watched
3 or 4 pilots scratching at around 1200' AGL for the longest
time... Finally decided to join them at around 4:45pm, after realizing
that no-one was coming down :-) . Had a nice second flight to
around 3400 AGL in better lift than previosuly, flying with
JoeG and PaulA. Very nice day, given the humidity and my
expectations of sled rides.

Heather and Erica both had a bunch of flights late in the day,
and were doing really well.

Thinking about flying tomorrow, but looks like lots of clouds....
so I'm undecided at the moment.

Managed 1+30 in very light lift. Mostly like between 50-100 fpm on the averager, but little sink and even less wind, so it was good enough. Nice towpark kinda day.
