Re: High Rock Friday PM?
Wow; it sure was good to fly High Rock again.
I was the first to launch in the second round of pilots ( around 5pm? ) and the big Falcon 225 handled the somewhat strong conditions well. Only a wee bit of penetration issues here and there but nothing to start sweating about. Lift everywhere. Lots of fun thermalling and buzzing launch and all that jazz. Had the ridge to myself for a long time...then the rest of the guys started jumping off. The LZ was a bit bumpy due to rotors on the tree line and a cross Westerly wind. I wumped in the high grass but nothing bent. Definately be aware that the grass is thigh high right now.
Thanks to Danny Brotto for pointing out to me that I had not clipped my safety buckle on my harness and was only half zipped. I had not been in that harness for over a year and was shamefully forgetful about "preflighting" my harness status. Hooked in; check. Leg loops; check. Chute pins; check. Side buckle and zipper; uh....duh. Wow. Thanks dude.
And thanks Glen and Gregory for giving me a lift back up to the top.
