New High Rock Protocol - Proposal for a High Rock sticker

Folks, I think the idea of giving Emma Jane the money all at once is a good
one. I don't think the idea of expecting us to tally up our flights and
remember to write the club an occassional check is very workable. My guess is there
will likely be a significant difference between the actual number of flights
and the commensurate donations.

Would it make more sense to follow the Pulpit model and produce a High Rock
sticker with an annual surcharge of say $20.00? We could use the honor system
for flights above 4 a year and at the same time have a reasonable assurance
that most of the funds would be collected. It might also encourage us to fly it
a little more often.

I might be wrong, but I thought the idea was that we would tally our
flights in a the logbook kept at the pavillion (instead of EJ's
kitchen). We would then be billed for the proper amount annually or
semiannually.
My suggestion is that EJ be paid from an existing organization's
checking account (e.g. CHGPA, MHGA, Pulpit); each of us would write
our check to that organization. That way EJ's check wouldn't have to
wait for the late 10 percenters.

I think the original idea is brilliant. It helps EJ, without costing
us any more money. Additionally, it might help preserve EJ's legal
immunity.

Ummm.... Isn't part of the problem the fact that fewer
pilots are flying, and thus the total amount donated is
lower than it has been in the past?


If that is a fact of life, then we should be thinking about
how to *increase* the donation amount, not about how
to preserve the status quo.

A tow is, what, $18 a pop? And how often do pilots
tow more than once in a given day? How much is
spent on gas getting to the Rock? Compare that to
the very small donations that we typically make....

Just making the point that the primary goal here is
to preserve the site, and if that means that pilots
donate more than in the past, well, that's the way
it is.
