Oregon Ridge Tomorrow (8/6)

Post by hang_pilot »

Meeting Spark’ at 9 am, bringing bag and plumbing.? I don’t remember reading about too many training hill excursions lately.? This is a good chance to keep your foot launch skills current.
?
If it doesn’t t-storm, might try out the swimming hole later. If that sounds like your idea of fun, bring your arm floaties.

P.S. I spoke with Sandy at the Park and there are no special events scheduled that would conflict with flying.? And yes, Rich, will make sure the crowd control fence is handled properly. J
P.S.S. Per Spark’, it’s blowin +20 at Pulpit right now.

Oregon Ridge Tomorrow (8/6)

Post by drice21037 »

Put me down as a definite maybe. With the slightly cooler weather tomorrow my
family was thinking about having a picnic somewhere. OR would be a great place
to do that. I can't think of the last time I flew twice in the same week.

Thanks for doing the legwork to make sure the park is available to us tomorrow.

Dave

Oregon Ridge first flights

Post by Spark »

Congratulations to Kelvin, Daniel for their first PG flights at Oregon ridge today! It sure was enjoyable to watch.

Trent Rockwell (a new student of John Middleton's) came out and enjoyed his first PG flights since the early 1990's.

Matthew and Karen also shared the heat, humidity and light winds, making several PG flights each. I flew a couple of times myself.

Danny Brotto came out to offer his assistance and valued advice.

Dave Rice flew his Falcon.

John Middleton had a bunch of hang gliding students there. I don't know if they got to fly, 'cause I had to leave at 2pm

Not too bad for a hot and humid summer day.

>>>What a blast: thanks again, Spark'!

Trent Rockwell (a new student of John Middleton's) came out and enjoyed
his first PG flights since the early 1990's.
>>>I'm not sure he's one of John's HG students. I think John just gave
him the skinny on where to go to practice.

John Middleton had a bunch of hang gliding students there. I don't know
if they got to fly, 'cause I had to leave at 2pm
>>>3 2nd-time students (Larry, Cesar and Bart) who seemed motivated and
a nice, bright guy, David Churchill, who I haven't seen out since I got
my H2 at Smithsburg, 4/03. He has his own Eagle and was flying from the
top of the hill. Looks close to his H2.

Conditions were good in the a.m. but went L&V and mostly cross while
John's students were training. I took a lunch break with Matthew and
Karen and then came back and flew one of John's falcons. With a lot of
towing in my logbook this summer, I was glad to have the foot launch
practice. John was very helpful with pointers. It's also really fun to
be around people who are learning.
