OT: ATOM Feeds : Working for anyone?
Off-Topic Post:
Our forums supposedly support ATOM-based "feeds", so that those who would like to "subscribe" to http://www.chgpa.org/forums and view forum content can do so _without_ actually visiting the website. Feeds are a pretty cool way to keep up with the content of many websites, without having to individually visit each one. This can be very useful when you want to check-in on the forums (and other sites) from a smartphone.
I've enabled just about every feed-related option that I can think of, but every feed-reader that I've tried on my Razr Maxx reports that there's no content available. I've tried the Google Reader app, the gReader app, mobile-FireFox, all to no avail
So..... Is *anyone* using feeds from chgpa.org successfully? If so, I'd like to pick your brain!!!!

The ATOM feed works fine on the RSS reader app on my phone.
I'm using http://chgpa.org/forums/feed.php as the URL if that helps.

Also, http://chgpa.org/forums/feed.php?f=2 works as well if you only want the "Flight-Related Topics" posts.

Sorry, should have asked if anyone with an android phn running the gingerbread os is able to use the chgpa feeds successfully? I did verify that the feed from the forums is validly formatted.

Hey Marc,
I don't know what an ATOM feed is.... so take all this for what it's worth! I have an HTC INCREDIBLE and it has Android 2.3.4. I use RSSDemon App for the phone and it seems to be getting the feeds from the FLIGHT part of our forum. Decent app as you can read offline, formatting is not the best though.
Good luck,
John

Re: OT: ATOM Feeds : Working for anyone?
You just saved me a ton of frustration John, *thanks* for the tip. Installed RSSDemon, blew away all of its stock groups/feeds, changed a bunch of settings, shut-down and restarted, used "Manage Sources" to subscribe to the Flight Topics forum, and *poof* everything just worked.
I suppose that the other readers I tried simply weren't "back-tracking" to forum posts older than the time at which I installed the apps, and so they were (accurately) reporting "no articles", simply because there wasn't any forum activity at that moment. I'll have to look into that.
But at least RSSDemon acted in an understandable way, pulling up a couple of days' posts right off the bat. And sheesh, the settings menu is extremely comprehensive, makes me wonder if the paid version might be worth it....
Thanks again!

Scchwweeeeet!
Glad it worked, I like the program... not the best but pretty nice.
Hope we can fly soon, I'm in FLA trying to sneak into the Rally.

So I got RssDemon installed on my android but are a little dense about how to delete the groups and setup to get the Flight-Related Topics. Mark, how about more details/instructions? Please.

Fire up RssDemon, and then press the 'Menu' key (far left, bottom left corner of the screen, three horizontal lines stacked above each other).
A panel with 6 options will pop-up : Press 'More' .
On the list that appears, click "Manage Group" .
Press-and-hold (for several seconds) on one of the pre-installed feed groups.
This will give you a pop-up that allows you to delete the group.
Repeat as necessary to remove all the pre-installed groups.
Note: You won't be able to delete the "Favorites" and "Others" groups.
When done, hit the 'Back' key at the bottom of the screen (looks like a "return" arrow).
Repeat the "Menu", then "More" procedure.
This time, press "Manage Sources".
Click the large "+" button at the bottom of the screen.
Click "Feed Url".
Click on the text box.
Enter:
You are done, and the feed should be displayed.
Note: You can place multiple feeds of a given type into single "Group" . I created a "CHGPA" group, and placed the Flight Topics URL (above) into that group. The idea is that there might be other CHGPA feeds in the future, and I might want them under one umbrella.
But obviously, organize and group your feeds in whatever way works for you.
Cheers,
MarkC

Re: OT: ATOM Feeds : Working for anyone?
Sheesh, re-installed the highly-rated gReader app, and attempted to subscribe to the flight-topics forum using the complete URL for the feed (including "http://") . Completed it. Hit refresh. "No Items". What's up with that?
That android app just doesn't seem to work! John, thanks again for pointing me to rssDemon !
