How about bringing a digital camera, taking a bunch of pictures and writing an article for the USHPA magazine? They are pleading for articles. They are also very interested in the public relations activities put on by its chapters. What could be more photogenic than kites and flags alongside the Washington Monument and what better subject than the one that brings more spectators than all the other events in the US combined?

Let's hear from a volunteer. It's your chance for a shot at publication, fame and glory, and you might even get a date with the Cherry Blossom Festival queen.

Craig, could you print up some release forms for any pictures we take of kids hanging in your special small harness? Matthew & I think we'll be able to stop by and I'll bring my camera.

A quick Google search led me to a simple model release advisory at
http://www.nyip.com/ezine/techtips/model-release.html

Based on that, I mocked up this release text:
================
Capitol Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association (CHGPA)

National Cherry Blossom Festival 2012 Kite Festival
The CHGPA (http://chgpa.org), a chapter of the United States Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association (USHPA) (http://ushpa.org) will submit photographs of festival-goers enjoying the CHGPA glider display for consideration as illustrations for an article in the USHPA membership magazine, Hang Gliding & Paragliding, as well as calendars and promotional flyers.
If you are willing to have photographs of yourself or your children considered for such use, please complete the release form, below. Thank you for your consideration.
I hereby give permission to CHGPA, USHPA, and the National Cherry Blossom Festival to use my name and photographic likeness in all forms and media for advertising, trade, and any other lawful purposes.
Print Name:   _______________
Signature:      _______________

If Model is under 18:

Print Name:  _______________

I'll have to get them printed after work Friday evening, so please give me feedback bere by late afternoon Friday.

Craig,

I think you've got it, as written. I hope to see a good article come out of the day. A couple months back one of our members justifiably complained that we aren't seeing a whole lot of articles based here in the good old USA. I'd say it's a pretty good bet that nobody will have any trouble recognizing the location of this one!

Thanks to Matt & Craig and Mark C. who spent hours working at the kite festival. Matthew & I went down for a couple hours in the afternoon. It was a special treat to unexpectedly see Sheila and her girls. My friend's kids had a blast hanging in Craig's glider. Hopefully I got some decent pictures.

Lots of fun. Smaller crowd than last year.
Hanging under the glider was still a hit for kids and their 'rents with cameras.
