Saturday March 10

Post by mcgowantk »

It looks like the NW winds will last until the afternoon on Saturday. I am thinking about going to the Pulpit or High Rock.

Tom,
I'm interested in heading out early in the AM to either of those. Keep us posted.

I'm going to head either to the Pulpit or High Rock. I think either would be fine today.

Several PG pilots should be at the Pulpit by 1:00 or so. It could be a great XC day.

I had a nice day at High Rock. Mark Cavenaugh volunteered to come out and help wire me off. Conditions were weakening so I launched just before noon. I had exactly an hour with 1600' over. Nice thermally flight. When I hiked up, things actually looked better, so I got my gear and flew again. By the time I launched, winds were 0-5 mph. Nonetheless, found a nice thermal to 2000' over and another 45 minutes - plus a second hike up. In all, a fun day.

A big thanks to Mark!

PS How was the Pulpit?

Pulpit was good. Very light and pretty chilly. Launched around 2, flew for about 1.5 or so. Maxed out about '4500. Nice climbs. About 8 of us, all PGs, no HG action.
