Flew HG today at 250 foot hill close to Manila which has been remarkably and consistently soarable. Tandem PGs flew first then I flew for an hour in active thermal conditions (sore arms/shoulders/back - excellent upper body workout) that kept them on the ground. One tandem tried again and got trapped in a venturi in a ravine at the far end of the field, sank out in the bush. I tanked up on altitude, flew over and shouted down to him but heard/saw no response so flew back to launch, shouted for them to bring the truck and landed. Both OK, farmer is expert with machete to extract PG from tree. Since it's often just that much too windy/gusty/thermic for PG, a Falcon is looking better and better as the tool of choice. Easy handling is important since you are sometimes working close (but not too close - I got 750 over) - like a short surfboard instead of a longboard. Construction workers obligingly use vibrating roller to remake the road so I can get the Volvo up (suitable tip). - Hugh

Way to go, Hugh! Glad to hear you're getting some HG airtime. Show 'em how it's done!
