Daniels 3/7 flight report and site cleanup

Post by mingram »

Summation of flight report from Daniels yesterday (Tuesday):
Laszlo and a few other PGs launched at 3pm and flew for 1.5 hours. Winds were gusting to 14mph, with lower base wind. Laszlo reported gains of 1000 ft that was still going up, but he left lift due to thermal drift. Lift was still working when he landed by choice. Spring is getting closer!

Daniels needs some launch cleanup before Spring arrives and it gets harder to cut. It's safe to launch, but there's a lot of brush on both sides of the slot that will fill back in quickly. If you're heading to Daniels bring some tools (heavy duty loppers or small hand saw) to do some light clearing before it turns on later in the afternoon around 2pm or so. If we put in a little work now it'll save us effort later and we won't need to organize a cleanup party. The LZ also has sticker bushes that have grown back since Ann and I cut them down last year. Some heavy gloves and hand clippers do the job.

I'm busy this weekend, but may try to go down next weekend.
