Tom, I am up for giving it a go tommorrow. It is looking pretty north everywhere at the moment, but I am still up for a look-see tomorrow. Let me know what you are thinking in the morning. I will be leaving from work and will check the forum at around 0800.

I agree it looks north but I some surface casts show none until later in the day. I will post in the am. I may favor high rock per the current forecast.

I am planning on going up to High Rock to take a look at the conditions. I am not sure on my eta, perhaps around noon.

Had a nice day at the Rock. Winds stayed NW despite the iffy forecast. I had an hour + with 1600' over max before sinking out. Winds were generally nw 5-10. When I left at 2:30, winds were still coming in around 10 mph. Jon had a nice flight but launched into a sink cycle so had a shorter flight. Thanks to Jon and Amy for the wire crew.

Fun day at High Rock yesterday.....sunny and pretty warm.....and much to my suprise a light breeze blowing straight in at launch. I had a 10 minute extendo/small climbs/scratching flight. 
When I got there Tom was mostly set up and launched not too long after. He had a nice smooth launch into some good thermal activity out front....and climbed right up., getting pretty high. After that initial climb he had, I could tell he was having to work harder to stay up...getting down to the ridge and back up again.....down to the ridge and back up again. I finished setting up and launched about 30 minutes after him.
It was still pretty light on the cube with about 5mph coming straight in with some occasional cycles hitting maybe 8-10mph. For wire crew I had Amy and a nice gentleman that had stuck around after doing some trail running on the AT. I played it pretty conservative and chose a pretty light cycle to launch in. In retrospect I probably could have chosen a little stronger cycle and would have been fine, even though I had a wuffo on one of my wires and no one on the keel. I had a pretty smooth launch and then headed left......shoulda gone right. I hit nothing to the left of launch and turned around and headed back. I hit my first thermal just out front and to the right of launch........
why didn't I turn right off of launch??????? I basically stayed alive as long as I could in this termal. Figuring eighting back and forth (couldn't 360 due to my position relative to the terrain). Had some small gains and losses. Hung on for as long as I could before heading out to land. Nice landing in Emma Janes field.
Although it was short, it was a very fun and active 10 minutes. I have had quite a few of these "shorter" flights now, where descisions I have made right off launch have put me in a tough spot to get up. Trying to analyze and learn from my bad strategy and tactics. Sucks when you lose it after 10 minutes but it's damn sure fun trying
I kept thinking I was going to make it stick on this and finally be able to climb enough where I could tuck back into the ridge and 360 but I just never made it. So close!!!

That is what keeps me hooked on flying. Some days I am on the ground watching others soar, some days we all soar, some days nobody soars and some days I am watching others on the ground while I soar. Each day is different, each day provides something new to learn.
