Met Jon and Amy at the Pulpit around noon. Wind howled to 20-25mph. We sat in the cars, drove down for lunch, sat some more. Late in the afternoon, after an especially strong couple minutes, it suddenly quieted down and we emerged from our vehicles to find the air decidedly changed- hard to describe, but it was warmer and just "felt" different. Gone was the whipping cold and in it's place was a quiet steady trickle. We set up and Jon and I had nice late afternoon soaring flights. There was ridge lift and some nice thermals. You had to work, but it wasn't stressful trying to stay up. Huge thanks to Amy for trooping along and helping with launch/retrieve!!
Jesse summed it up nicely. Lots of hang waiting for suitable conditions,...... but it finally happended. Enjoyed a nice late afternoon flight. Flew for 40 minutes and got about 500+' over. Lots of little thermals rolling through but none to take you high. Big thanks to Amy for sticking it out with us and picking us up.
