Hi All,
Just happened upon some reason to check my ham license and guess what!
It would have expired the next day. I did not change my address when I moved so maybe you all got renewal forms but if not.
It was a fairly easy re-apply and my new license arrived in less than a week...
So just a reminder for the "Ralph Sickenger" ham radio classes of 2002, your license is due for renewal.
Note: I could not figure out how to do it direct from the FCC site so I Googled "renew my ham license" and found the right place to go.
enjoy

I believe Cragin noted a couple of years ago that the FCC doesn't send out renewal notices. We have to keep one eye on our own expiring licenses.

Oh man. I just noticed who started this thread. Hey, if you're not hanging much in NC, you gotta spend some time back up here. With our warm Winter, you won't even have to wait for Spring.

Check your own license status and expiration date: http://wireless2.fcc.gov/UlsApp/UlsSear ... icense.jspdbodner wrote:I believe Cragin noted a couple of years ago that the FCC doesn't send out renewal notices. We have to keep one eye on our own expiring licenses.
Renewal is free when done directly to FCC, and can be done online or by mail.
Amateur License Services : http://wireless.fcc.gov/services/index. ... id=amateur
Renewing Amateur Licenses: http://wireless.fcc.gov/services/index. ... ew_amateur
Change of Address: http://wireless.fcc.gov/services/index. ... ge_address
There is (or was) a company in Texas that monitors the expiration dates for licenses on the FCC site, and sends a very official-looking renewal notice to license holders. The package has a form to fill out and mail back to them for renewal, and charges a fee for their service. They re-mail the form to FCC.
The envelope and all included material are designed to make you think it is from the FCC, and that the fee is a government fee. It isn't.
Joe, you probably did not get one from them, because licensees last for ten years, and your address of record at FCC is still in Maryland.
