My problem: personal messages just sit in my outbox and just don't get sent.
Any suggestions on how to fix this?
thanks

Re: personal mails not sent
I have that problem too. Many times they just sit there indefinately. Occassionally they go out after a couple days. Often they go out right away. Ironically there have been times when I couldn't get traditional email out and this worked fine.
Mark, any ideas what's going on?

That's definitely weird! I've never run into the problem myself, either
as admin, or as a regular forum user. Not that that's saying much!
I can think of a few things to check:
a) Are cookies enabled in your web browser?
b) Is JavaScript enabled in your web browser?
c) How is it that you know that a PM was not delivered?
By an independent confirmation, after the fact, with the
intended recipient?
You might want to consider sending me a test PM message,
immediately after sending a real PM. That might help point
out a pattern associated with the failed PMs.
BTW: I think I've disabled the feature by which these forums
can be used to send email messages. The idea is that forum
posts and PMs are fine, but our site/resources shouldn't really
be a substitute for a regular email client, that most everyone
can/should have. Dan, does your reference to traditional email
not working refer to email via the forums?
Cheers,

Re: personal mails not sent
let me say this about that since when and prior to And after i'd become curious about that phenomenininomoninium a good while back. i found that the pm will sit in your out box until the recipient opens it. then it will be moved over to your sent box. i think you can test this by sending a pm to yourself, but don't recall exactly and am too lazy to retest it myself.

Yup - got the same prob myself. If it sets there until the recipient opens it, I guess that's OK... - Hugh

Mark,
i might be having a problem with my personal messages.
if you would, check your messages when you get a chance then i’ll know that they are getting through.
thanks, gary

Hi Gary,
Got nothing in my in-box from you. (Written in Chiangmai, Thailand - what a world we live in!)

Re: personal mails not sent
i had to chuckle when i read your post.
it brought to mind what someone once said. “I think when you read Gary's posts you have to carefully consider the message and then come to the opposite conclusion”.
so i can see that some how or in some way, “Based on history”, you might easily have misunderstood me.
actually what i was wanting was for Mark to check his messages.
still chuckling though.
take care, Hugh.
