Shenanoah National Park HG pass

Post by Joe Schad »

I decided to go the Skyline Drive and hike in Dickey's launch and possible just hike for an hour or two for some exercise. Steve and I decided it was probably not a good Dickey's day. My Glider was on my car. At the gate there were two people(ranges) who asked if there would be more Hang Gliders. I told them maybe one more but I was not sure and said I didn't think it would be a good day.

About fifteen minutes after I got to launch, Don, the law inforcement officer who had been at the entrance showed up. We chatted for a while about hang glide and his light airplane flying before he asked to see my park permit even though my glider was on my car. Make sure you have your permit when you go to the park. The rangers are checking.

As I drove out I saw the same ranger parked next to another law inforcement vehicle at the visitors center. Guess they were having a slow day and I was the only activity worthy of investigation.
