Can anyone share their experiences and information from paragliding in Slovenia?
I am considering a week long visit next summer. Thanks. Pat

Re: Slovenia Paragliding
Hello Pat,
The German school I took my training at runs a couple of trips a year to Slovenia for paragliding. I did not go on these trips but I have sent them an email requesting details on the sites. I'll do a rough translation and send what I get from them to you.

Re: Slovenia Paragliding
Hello Pat,
The German paragliding school is offering a trip from 15 September to 23 September for a cost of 450 euros. I've included a translation of the trip description from their website (http://www.flugschule-goeppingen.de/inf ... ourse=1232) below. They are staying at a "flyers" lodge (www.jelkin-hram.com) that is in the main flying area in Slovenia. Take a look at the website and select the English language option from the website home page. They describe their offerings and I am sure they will have English speakers on staff who can answer your questions and make suggestions about a flying trip to Slovenia.
Note that you might consider piggybacking onto the school's trip. This would give you 7 to 8 days of lodging, dinners/breakfasts, and guiding for the 5 sites they will be visiting during the trip. The folks (Dieter and Mathias) that are running the trip have good English so you would be OK if you have no German. They are both great guys. I have found the trips that the school puts on to be very good values. I'm going to take safety training again in Lake Garda, Italy in late April to early May. I'm also considering a November trip to Nepal.
I hope this helps.
Jim

The small country on the southeastern Alps has to offer, despite its rather small size beautiful mountain scenery, picturesque river valleys and Mediterranean landscapes. A very rich flora and fauna from maritime, continental and alpine climates covers the landscape. A special jewel of the Triglav National Park is in the midst of the Julian Alps. The Slovenes themselves are very hospitable and warm people. The tourist infrastructure of the country is exemplary.
Of course, this word has spread among the airmen. For some time, the Slovenian air arena has from tip to "classic" blossomed.
The flight areas of our trip (Stol, Matajur, Kuk, and Kobala Liak) provide opportunities for all skill levels and wind directions, exhibit differences in altitude of 450 to 1100 m and have some alpine and mid-mountain character. Along the Soca Valley, small haul flights by numerous foreign airfields are quite feasible.
In nichtfliegbaren (non-flyable) conditions, the region offers numerous opportunities for various hikes, trips and alternative programs.
