Guy and other P2s and H2s:
best to call observers directly rather than relying on timely responses to forum based inquiries. :-)
That said, *I* am usually not available during the week.

I have a day off from work scheduled on Friday so this thread has got my attention.... I'll be checking the posts and weather moving into the morning.

Ugggghhhhh , I wasn't sure what the commitment level/interest was out there, so I committed myself to be messing with bondo and paint today, instead of tryingto catch an early flight at the Pulpit

Looked like today was going to be an early day at the Pulpit......for all that went, best of luck, and please report conditions when you get back.

Have great flights,

Sled city.
Before launch I underestimated the strength of cold weather wind. Once Greg launched I decided to bring the glider and then hook in. Good idea except turn in the glider cost scrape on the nose cone. Check the glider decided it was OK. Hook in, no more turning. It was steady wind under 10mph.
I thought I was golden. As soon as I moved away from launch area, ridge lift vanished.

Turned out to be a bit of a deceptive day at the Pulpit. I arrived around 10:30 am to find nice conditions about 8 to 10 mph straight in. I proceeded to get set up, but by the time Carlos arrived around 11 am the winds had died down significantly to almost nothing and turned a bit south. We both decided to get set up anyway and wait it out a bit. After dropping a car in the LZ, we retuned to launch to find again decent conditions and decided to give it a try. No luck, however, with finding any sustainable ridge lift. I managed a couple hundred over at one point as I circled while moving down toward the primary, but it was shortly lived. I headed in to land quickly and only managed about a 10 minute flight. Carlos then launched and landed and we both made our way back up top. Conditions again looked tempting, but after being fooled once, and the forecast for conditions to turn more south in the afternoon, we decided to make it an early day.

I ended up going to E'ville just north of Harrisburg as it is about 30 minutes closer and I hadn't flown there. Got to the top with Shawn and Sean, Bill and Bill, Scott and Joe/ I had an extendo while a couple others were able to soar, Bill O got 800' over in mostly thermal lift. The strong west winds just didn't happen as forecast. Beautiful launch (best I've seen yet in PA) on a short ridge. Not much XC potential here but a great soaring site!
