H2 observer (or not)

Post by pink_albatross »

A week or so ago, a new H2 left me a voicemail asking for observer-service.
Unfortunately the message was in parts garbled and no matter how often I listened to it, I could not make out the call back number. I am hoping that whoever called me was able to connect with one of the other observers.

At this point, I would like to mention that I am primarily a PG observer. I will only observe experienced H2s, who have demonstrated good judgment and who have flown the day's site before. While for USHPA an observer is just someone who will watch (observe) and sign off on H2 tasks, in this area an observer serves a more mentor-like role. Considering that I am a bit too rusty with my HG skills, I am only willing to take on HG observer duties as defined by USHPA.

Why am I an HG observer at all? I thought it would be less limiting for the almost H3 pilots to have a larger observer pool available to them.

Regards
Ellis
