501 Sunday Nov 13th

Great day at 501. Got there about noon to find Jim Messina, Doug Rogers, Shawn MacDuff and the Gorries, Joe and Karen already there. Wind velocity was perfect but a little cross from the left. I watched awhile before setting up to make sure it was going to be good enough. Doug launched then Shawn and me. We we surprised by the thermal action although it didn't take us very high. Joe launched followed by Jim and we all soared in sweet conditions. I saw Doug head to the east for the southwest knob and thought he made it. I took my time but eventually was high enough to give it a go myself. Halfway across the gap I spotted Doug in the LZ. What the....? I'm not too experienced at this site with only three flights and ended up bailing as I descended below peak height. Headed to the LZ and had a nice landing. Great flights by everyone. My goal is still to fly here in the summer on a good thermic day. I'd like to explore the XC possibilities to the north.
