Smithsburg opening November 5th

Post by Richard Hays »

Great news! Our favorite bump will be open this weekend. Not sure of the status of the LZ but Eddie will swing by there Thursday to check and I will post on Friday the update. Eddie thinks the LZ is in good shape, as he thinks the farmer baled off the corn stalks as silage this year. God; I hope so. If not we really have to look into getting permission to bush hog it down.

Anyway.....thought everybody would welcome this news. Time to practice those running take-offs and landings! Let the games begin!

I stopped by there on 10/17 and the LZ was already clear and pretty good shape. I don't recall corn stock stubs. The setup area and hill had what appeared as grass but was 1+ foot high and potentially would be cut as feed. Rich, if you talk to Eddie before Friday you might have him ask the tennant/land owner if we can mow those areas if it hasn't already been done and I could bring my riding mower.

Hope our PG folks will take advantage of this as a way to participate in the HR fly-in.

Saturday is looking like a Bill's Hill Sled-A-Palooza to me.

Did anyone stop by there this weekend and/or Rich did you speak with Eddie and find out about the crop in the settup and hill area?

I would love to be oriented to this site by a PG familiar with it.

It's very convenient for me, and I'd like to practice my launches and landings.

If anybody is interested/able, please give me a call/text

I swung by Sat. morning. Top was cleared, fresh manure. Landing area looked groomed smooth. High grass in between and in set up area.
