Au contraire! I got fifty feet over launch, made a couple of passes and scored twelve minutes on my first flight. And Karen had the FOTD of thirteen minutes by soaring the back tree line of the LZ for almost ten minutes.

Greg. after enjoying your video and sending it to family and friends, I realized I hadn't even shared with YOU how wonderful I thought it was. Very artistic alignment of music and images - shifting from color to black and white, from stills to moving images, from PG to HG. And the music was haunting and fall foliage beautiful. I'm amazed you put that together within about 24 hours of the flight! Thanks, and thanks for sharing it.

Sorry to hear Ward isn't in the air. Speedy recovery Ward!

I'm glad to hear the Pulpit was so busy! From what I heard everyone's launches were good, but we had a few landing mishaps.

Petr's paraglider snagged a tree and he had a hard fall and suffered some internal bleeding. He spent a few nights in the hospital, but he's at home now and recovering and reports that the pain is receding. Get well soon, Petr!

Oh, my! Having been the first one on the mountain in the morning, I left after finishing my second flight around 5pm, with plenty of people still on top to assist / observe launches - several PGs were in the wings preparing to go. Didn't realize there had been an accident with serious consequence.

Petr! That sounds scary! I don't know how long it took for others to reach you / how close to the LZ you were, but am glad you evidently got evacuated and cared for - and are well enough to be recovering at home now! Heal well!

No evacuation for our Petr! I landed, and shortly afterwards Petr came walking towards me from the bailout field, carrying his glider. He said that he had hit a tree and that something didn't feel right. I begged him to put down his glider but he calmly walked the rest of the way out and drove back with Karan to Bethesda before he went to the hospital. He's one tough guy.

Probably something to be learned from Petr's accident. This sounds like it could have ended much worse. Sure glad it didn't but still...........

You know that commercial, the one where a guy pounds into something, and then you hear "I'm ok!" from below the camera's field of view? I'm kinda reminded of that.

And I can definitely understand deferring treatment after an accident : You might think that you can hang on until you can get somewhere that has really top-notch care, ya know? Heck, I've done that myself after a bad landing that resulted in a broken radius & ulna (probably at the very same hospital Petr went to).

But I think Larry's concern is worth serious thought : Shock can *significantly* mask the extent of an injury. Add the "I'm ok!" factor, and it's not hard to imagine someone getting into trouble if s/he doesn't seek immediate care. I don't have any magic criteria to offer... And I certainly can't second-guess Petr's decision because I wasn't there, and we don't have any details from him yet...

But I DO know that we HG/PG pilots are often a hard-headed and stubborn lot! This can be a good thing when it comes to launching/flying/landing. But just be aware that this could also act against your own interests, in other circumstances.

Hang in there Petr, I hope that your recovery is quick! Please let us know how you're doing.
