Hey Everyone,
I'm new to the forum, a P1 studying for P2. I'm based in DC but am actually learning on the weekends up in Pennsylvania, which as you can imagine can be kind of a haul. Once I get my P2 rating I'm hoping to hook up with more local pilots, learn about sites in the area, and get as much knowledge as possible about flying, weather, etc, etc... In the meantime, can anyone recommend any areas relatively near DC where a P1 could practice ground handling?
Thanks!
bishop

Sounds like you're dedicated! That's the kind of attitude you need! Welcome!
Kiting is permitted at Manassas Battlefield Park. It's an open field.
Some people have kited at Hains Point, but sometimes you get asked to leave.
Kiting is not allowed on the national mall, except on Kite Day.
Good luck on the P2 test. Hope to see you flying soon.

Also you can use the chgpa training hills as a P1 to get some practise in. Best to go with another P1 and spot each other and give feedback to each other.
